As is often the case with the Sydney Chamber Choir, this concert presented music of vastly different periods in such a way as to emphasise continuity over change.
In this case, it was the music of the early Baroque in Germany – including Franz Tunder and, of course, Heinrich Schutz – and the more contemporary – John Rutter and our very own Brooke Shelley.

In the interest of full disclosure, I used to be a member of this choir when it was first formed as the Sydney University Chamber Choir in 1975. Coincidentally, born the same year was the composer Brooke Shelley, whose work commissioned by the choir received its world premier performance tonight.
